Summer is officially here, and homeowners are craving the outdoor features that will help them enjoy time outside in the hot months that lie ahead, says Realtor.com writer Yuqing Pan. Outdoor living rooms and homes with "indoor-outdoor flow" are in high demand, but a number of other outdoor home features are also high on buyers' lists this summer. Realtor.com's data team narrowed down 10 fantastic outdoor home features that will set the stage for the perfect summer staycation, where they are most common, and the premium that buyers will pay for homes that have them.
An infinity pool will fetch the highest premium, 56% more than similar homes in the same area without one, and are most common in Kahului, Hawaii. Other hot outdoor home features included private docks in Traverse City, Mich., with a 44.7% premium; outdoor kitchens in Naples, Fla., with a 26.2% price bump; and outdoor fireplaces in Dallas, commanding 21.5% more. Private tiki bars were also a hot commodity, fetching a premium of 13.8% in Key West, Fla.
