The proposed penalties for Lorz Construction of Fargo, N.D, cover three willful safety violations. The fine follows an incident in May in which a worker suffered serious injuries when the forklift platform he was working from tipped over. OSHA inspectors discovered workers were exposed to falls of up to three stories, and had neither fall protection nor guard rails. The company was cited for similar violations in 2014. Eric Brooks, OSHA's area director, said it was "inexcusable" for employers not to provide fall protection, and noted that falls remain the leading cause of death and injury on construction sites.
