Charles M. Diirner, owner of CJ Diirner & Sons Roofing, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest about 40 minutes after the 5:30 p.m. accident in Allentown. His death is under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Diirner was described by his brother as safe and cautious and someone who was "always looking out for the other guy." The Allentown Morning Call reported Diirner landed on his head and had no pulse when paramedics arrived. At least two other workers were on the roof with Diirner when he fell into a small courtyard on a side of the church away from the street. Details on how the accident occurred were not immediately available. Diirner had worked on a number of churches in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and was a 23-year veteran of his trade. He leaves a wife and three children.
