While putting together the 2015 Remodeling 550 list, we gathered a lot of data about all of the companies listed. Replacement Contractors were asked to fill out their primary advertising methods, and then select the three advertising methods that were most successful for them. We gathered advertising information from 148 different companies, and the most effective marketing method was the most tried and true, referrals.
Each company also provided us information on how much was spent on marketing as a percentage of total sales volume. 132 companies answered, with one company only spending 0.7% of their total sales volume on marketing. On the opposite end of that list, 10 companies spent 20% or more of their total sales volume on marketing. On average, the replacement contractors spent 9.84% of their total sales volume on marketing costs.
We also learned that 60% of the replacement contractors listed employed a sales manager.
