Advanced Roofing, a roofing contractor in the Saskatchewan town of Moose Jaw, typically posts a sign on the lawn after finishing a job as a form of advertising. But over the course of a year, 100 of the signs had vanished.
“We started asking the homeowners, ‘Did you take the sign out?’” Advanced Roofing
Fall set up a security camera to find out what was going on. It took a month, but he eventually had his man — an employee of a competing roofing company. Fall posted the video on social media and in less than 24 hours it had been shared 900 times and earned more than 50,000 views on the company's Facebook page.
The signs cost $15 each, and the thefts had added up to $1,500 in the year before Fall caught the culprit. The thief, who turned himself into police, claimed he had only taken the one sign and was sorry he'd done that.
Advanced Roofing is still looking for the rest of the stolen goods.
